Our November meeting will feature Jamieson Brodie, Life Sciences Coordinator of the Ectotherms Precinct at Moonlit Sanctuary. Jamieson oversees the sanctuary’s reptile, amphibian, invertebrate and native fish programs, with a focus on ectotherm husbandry, welfare and conservation breeding. On the night, Jamieson will talk about how a passion for reptiles set him on a journey into the zoo industry, and how that interest developed into a professional career working with ectotherms. He’ll share insights into the roles, challenges and opportunities within reptile‑focused positions, and the work involved in coordinating an ectotherm precinct in a modern zoo setting. His presentation will also explore modern reptile husbandry, highlighting advances in lighting, environmental design and the evidence‑based approaches now shaping ectotherm care in zoos.
