July 2008 "Feeding the Devil" & "Keeping Bugs Alive" by Alan Henderson Friday 5th September 2008 July 2008 Changes to VHS Membership 2008-2009 VHS MEMBERSHIP Dear Members, With the recent end of financial year Victorian Herpetological Society membership renewals are now due. Your Committee has been looking at how we can maximise benefits to our members. Our hobby continues to grow and the VHS is striving to keep up. Monitor magazine has, for a long time, been the flagship of our Society and we are proud of what it has achieved. With several reptile magazines now available and increasing publication costs, Monitor is no longer currently viable to the VHS. It is with regret that we put Monitor into brumation. So what do we get for our membership? The VHS has come to an agreement with Reptiles Australia and we will now be including a subscription to this great magazine with every VHS membership. If you already subscribe to Reptiles Australia, there will be a twelve month period in which there could be an overlap, during this period we can adjust your membership to exclude Reptiles Australia. After this period Reptiles Australia will be an automatic inclusion. The next issue of Reptiles Australia is due out mid-late July so please get your renewal payments in as soon as possible. Along with this, the VHS will produce a ?mini-Monitor?, a predominantly online newsletter called Odatria. The first edition will be out to members mid-late August 2008. We are also in the early stages of organising the 2009 Reptile Expo, which all members will receive free entry to. We are on a bit of a membership drive at the moment so please let all your herp friends know about the Society. We have included an additional membership form for you to pass on to one of your non-member herping friends. Additional membership forms can be obtained from the Secretary or you can even join up via our website. The more members we have the more we will be able to do for you and our hobby. For pricing and options go to VHS Membership. Any feedback on any topics mentioned above is much appreciated - don?t hesitate to contact us. Happy Herping The VHS Committee |
